The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC) is pleased to celebrate the opening of The County Collects III: Mother Nature with a public reception at the Betty Mae Kramer Gallery and Music Room on May 4, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. The County Collects III: Mother Nature features 16 artworks by local and regional artists: Paige Billin-Frye, Joe Cameron, Ellen Cornett, Diane English, Jun Lee, Steven Munoz, Sharon Robinson, Elzbieta Sikorska, and Alexandra Silverthorne.

Curated by Heloisa Escudaro, The County Collects III: Mother Nature showcases works collected by the Public Arts Trust on behalf of Montgomery County Government. From the curator: This exhibition celebrates mothers with images reflecting Mother Nature. It focuses on natural elements because this earth is mother to every living thing. There is an urgency to protect and preserve Mother Earth when much of it is lost and destroyed. The County Collects III: Mother Nature reminds us of the tenderness, love, and care the earth deserves.

Montgomery County’s Contemporary Works on Paper program began in 1975 with $7,000 in county bond money and matching funds from the National Endowment for the Arts. “The rationale for beginning the program in the 1970s still rings true today. It provides financial support and encouragement to local artists in addition to increasing access to high caliber works of art, raising the level of art appreciation in the community,” says Suzan Jenkins, CEO of the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County. Since its inception, the county has expanded the collection to over 570 works of art from local, area and national artists.

The County Collects III: Mother Nature will be on view from May 4 – July, 2022. Opening reception is free and open to the public. Tickets can be reserved at: https://the-county-collects-iii-mother-nature-bmkg.eventbrite.com.
