Exploring human relationships to the natural micro and macrocosms around us.

The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC) is delighted to celebrate the opening of Impressions with a public reception at the Betty Mae Kramer Gallery and Music Room on August 23, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Impressions features works by two local artists: Sookkyung Park and Caroline MacKinnon.

This exhibition, curated by Flannery Winchester, Public Art Manager at AHCMC, explores our ancient and contemporary relationships to the micro and macrocosms around us and considers the small and large indentations we leave on the earth today. It combines the work of two Montgomery County-based artists, Sookkyung Park and Caroline MacKinnon, who use origami and ceramic mediums to capture their impressions of natural phenomena in tactile reflections and symbolic forms.

“Human relationships to the earth are complex and important topics, especially in today’s environment” says Suzan Jenkins, CEO of the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County. “We are pleased to join these conversations by hosting an exhibition examining these relationships and the marks we leave on the natural world through tactual, personal and even playful artwork.”

Impressions will be on view every Friday from August 4 – October 20, 2023. The opening reception is free and open to the public. Tickets can be reserved at: https://impressionskramergallery.eventbrite.com
