Arts Residencies in Schools Grants

Arts Residencies in Schools Grants (ARSG) is one of the ways AHCMC supports arts education programming throughout Montgomery County. ARSG funds professional teaching artists trained in curriculum-based art techniques to serve students from communities that have traditionally received insufficient resources and limited access to arts education experinces throughout the school year.

Teaching artists will collaborate with classroom teachers to develop arts programming for students during the school-time hours. These programs must be offered in public or non-public, elementary, middle or high schools located in Montgomery County.

Our Arts Residencies offer something for the whole school community! Students enjoy learning art forms such as mural making, song writing, storytelling, dancing, and more. Teachers are inspired by new strategies to enhance student's acdemic, social and emotional well-being. Principals know that arts learning can lead to higher academic achievements in the Maryland State Curriculum. Parents are especially delighted with the depth of learning that occurs during a residency and the enthusiasm children have for the experience.
