Arts Integration

Arts integration uses the performing and visual arts to explore and teach academic subjects. From science, to language arts, mathematics and social studies, this hands-on learning method engages children of all academic abilities.

AHCMC supports integrated learning by offering specially trained Teaching Artists for Arts Integration Residencies to public, private and parochial schools in Montgomery County. Our Arts Integrated Residencies offer something for the whole school community! Students enjoy learning art forms such as mural making, writing songs and stories, dancing and acting. Teachers are inspired by new strategies for addressing core curriculum subjects. Principals know that integrated learning increases student understanding of core subjects in the Maryland State Curriculum. Parents are especially delighted with the depth of learning that occurs during a residency and the enthusiasm children have for the subject.

Arts Integration Residencies are led by professional artists trained in arts integration, classroom management and the Maryland State Curriculum. To learn more about these artists see our Teaching Artist Roster. Use the resources below to learn about, plan and implement an Arts Integrated Residency!
