Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County is proud to participate in Arts & Economic Prosperity IV, a project of Americans for the Arts. This research study will evaluate the impact that spending by nonprofit arts organizations and their audiences has on their local economies. It will also allow us to evaluate the impact of the recession on the employment and government revenues that are generated by the nonprofit arts and culture industry.
As one of 200 study partners across all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, during calendar year 2011, AHCMC will facilitate the gathering of detailed economic and event attendance data from nonprofit arts and culture organizations located in Montgomery County. We expect that the findings from the data collected will demonstrate that the arts remain a formidable industry in spite of our country's recent economic challenges. As with results from our participation in the Arts & Economic Prosperity III study (2005), the results from AEP IV will be essential in advocating for arts and humanities funding from local and state governments: critical sources of funding in these tough times.
