Through its grant programs for arts and humanities organizations, the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County seeks to promote stability in non-profit 501(c)(3) arts and humanities organizations by providing a base of funding to support their operating budgets; to help ensure diverse arts and humanities experiences for residents of Montgomery County; to stimulate local support and involvement in the arts and humanities, including volunteer participation, audience development and financial contributions; to strengthen the scholarly and artistic capabilities of arts and humanities organizations; and to improve and/or stabilize the management infrastructure and effectiveness of arts and humanities organizations.

Grants to Large Arts and Humanities Organizations are available to nonprofit arts and humanities organizations that had both cash expenses and an income of more than $150,000 during its most recently completed fiscal year; an arts and/or humanities division within an umbrella nonprofit organization, provided that the division’s cash expenses and cash income were more than $150,000 during the most recently completed fiscal year; or organizations that may be based elsewhere, but are providing a regular season of programming or educational services on the premises of a grantee organization based in the County. In addition organizations must have a full-time (35 hours/week or more) paid administrator and have completed an audit for their most recently completed fiscal year.
Grants to Mid-Size Arts and Humanities Organizations are available to arts and humanities organizations that have annual cash expenses of at least $25,000 and not more than $150,000. In addition, the organizations primary mission must be the exhibition, presentation, production or performance of, and/or education in, an arts and/or humanities discipline; and/or provides support services for artists and/or scholars and for arts and/or humanities organizations. For at least 12 consecutive months immediately prior to the application deadline the organization must have held current IRS 501(c)(3) status and the organization's principal offices must have been in Montgomery County.
Grants to Small Arts and Humanities Organizations and Groups are available to arts and humanities organizations or groups that may or may not be incorporated and with annual cash operating expenses of under $25,000 for their most recently completed fiscal year. These grants support arts and humanities organizations and groups that work in a wide array of arts and humanities disciplines. The organization or group's principal offices must have been in Montgomery County for at least 12 consecutive months immediately prior to the application deadline.
